Exquisite Corpse (Cadavre Exquis) is a poetry form and art developed in the 1920s among Surrealists. It is used as a visual but primarily written form. The concept was thought to have originally developed from a parlor game called Consequences, or formed by a similar means.
Call For Action
Drawing inspiration from the song “Words I Never Said ” by Lupe Fiasco and the student film by Anne Zhou on Occupy CUNY (we saw/heard in lab Monday ) readings, the film “Soldiers without Swords” create a poem surrounding the idea of “A Call For Action” (ie..freedom fighters.). So how this works is each student will contribute (post) just one line to the poem. The poem will build has each person creates one line.Whomever is the first to post starts off the poem. There are roughly about 30 of you combining both sections of you so this will be a relatively lengthy poem. We will take a 5 minutes to record each of you reciting a line from the poem Monday. I will post our audio file on the blog next week.

“Call for Action”
Lost and found are our treasures,
Given, stolen are these rights in small measures
word is a rapier,
pen use to open a locker.
but why is it that we have to fight,
for the privileges we once called our rights?
words never spoken and thoughts never spread,
lead men to wallow in sorrow and dread.
But from ashes of defeat by vultures we spring forth,
to claim this land that has also been ours since its birth.
people unite to secure our liberty,
to regain what is ours in its entirety.
if you will not hear what we have to say
we still will not go, rather, we’ll stay
Wherever we go and whatever we find it doesn’t even matter compared to the time.
Fear is lucifer in disguise. He robs us of our true emotions, as we surrender to our pride.
We must ban together, thoughts no longer concealed
Life is a story book written with lies,
As we fear to share we show them that we fear to care.
Our silent screams are a reflection of our struggle,
Our shattered dreams are the thorns that cripple.
stop and take a breath but the air is polluted
the ideal of what life is greatly diluted
No longer shall we remain mute
This is our time, speak out loud, speak out truth.
Emotions and anger, disputing with rage
I’ll be damned if I ever take minimum wage
We all have voices, we all have a tongue
The time for change has just begun.
No way we tell you everything by saying nothing.
Today we make this worth our time.
of all the colors in between, the natural hue of earth is green.
Beyond the wall of sleep exists the truth we all seek.
